When should I book my newborn session?
The best time to photograph a newborn baby is when they are under two weeks of age. Later the baby might sleep less and not be so 'curly'. Some poses might be harder to accomplish with older babies. To secure the date please book your session during your pregnancy. When the baby is born you will give me a call to arrange a suitable day and time for your session.
When should I book my maternity session?
The best time for those gorgeous maternity shoots is when you are 7-8 months along. You should start thinking about booking the session at the end of the second trimester.
Can you come to my house and do life style session or do I have to come to your studio?
Some people are not fans of posed pictures and would rather document their daily life in their home. Life style sessions are my specialty - I belive that those everyday pictures will be the one cherished the most in the years to come. Not only by you - also by those that come after you... I would be more than happy to plan and customize a session to fit your needs and show your life. It will take up to 4 hours of shooting and can be held in several locations (your home, backyard, park, favorite places).
Where is your studio?
My home studio is conveniently located right off I93, in Medford, MA. Has a separate entrance, is spacious and very well equipped. I have hundreds of beautiful props for you to choose from.
How long will the session take?
Newborn sessions can take up to 4 hours. During that time there are many breaks in case the baby needs to be fed or comforted. Most of the time we are done after 3 hours. Other in studio session (maternity, family, children) take about 2 hours. Life style sessions are up to 4 hours in several locations. Birth session takes as long as necessary :)
When will I see my photos?
About 3-4 weeks after your photosession we will meet for the ordering session. This is the time when you can see all of the beautiful portraits that were created for you and order those you love. Before coming to this appointment you should start planning where you want to hung the portraits (it is a good idea to measure those walls!).
Can i order more products after the reveal/ordering session?
If you decide to buy more products after the ordering session you can do so for up to 2 years. However - the ordering session is the only time you can purchase a Collection or use any time of discount or gift card if you have one. A la carte purchases can be made later, however an additional fee will apply to each extra ordering session ($75). If you wish to order more products of the same portrait (lets say you ordered a canvas during an ordering session and later on you want ot order some gift prints of the same picture) - you can do so without an extra ordering session - just contact me. I will store of master digital files of all product you purchased. Portraits that were not purchased might be deleted after 2 years.
Is there a minimum order I need to make?
No, there is no minimum order. You can order as many portraits as you wish or even just one. Most clients spend around $1000-1300 but we can work around your budget and your needs.
Does my session fee include digital files or prints?
No, it does not. Session fee covers my time during the session as well as pre--session consultation and ordering session (when you will see all your pictures). Prints, canvas, albums and digital files are available to purchase during ordering session. If you decide to order a collection - your session fee will be deducted from the one you choose. You may also order products a la carte.
Can the siblings be present during the newborn session?
During a newborn session we make baby's comfort our priority. We try to limit the noises and other distractions that might disturb your baby's sleep. If you would like me to photograph the baby with your older kids - please plan for them to stay for the first 30 minutes. After we take a few shots with the parents and siblings - older kids can leave with your husband or other family members.
How will my newborn session look like?
When you arrive at my studio you will have time to relax and feed your baby if needed. The temperature will be held at 80'F to make sure you baby is comfortable (remember - she/he will be naked during most of the time) so please dress accordingly (light clothes, layers). We will start with photos with parents and siblings and then let daddy take older kids home (or to the park). I will pose you baby gently on the bean bag and in the props caring for her as she would be my own. We will allow enough time to feed the baby when needed, change diapers or comfort her. I do have big experience with babies so you don't have to worry. I had a family daycare for many years and I have 4 kids of my own. Many people bring pacifier for the session - even if their child does't use it at home. It helps a lot during the session and might allow us to do more complicated poses.
I've seen babies posed in wraps hanging in the air or sleeping on their belly with her head resting on her hands. None of those look safe to me and I'm worried about my baby's safety.
Your baby's safety and comfort are our number one priority during the session. Your baby will not be forced into any poses that she is not comfortable with. One of us will be always on hand distance from the baby. I do have experience with babies so you don't have to worry. I had a family daycare for many years and I have 4 kids of my own. Some photographs that you might seem were composed in post processing as no photographer would ever compromise baby's safety!
How should I prepare for the session?
Before your session we will meet in my studio to discuss all the details. We will talk about your needs and expectations and the ways you should prepare for the session. This meeting will help me customize your session.
When do I pay for my pictures?
Session fee ($175) is due at booking. This is a non-refundable deposit to secure your session date. 3-4 weeks after the session we will meet for reveal session. At this time you will pay for the pictures you would like to order. Payment can be made by PayPal, bank deposit, check or cash.
After I buy the pictures can I use them any way I want?
If you want to have digital files instead of prints (or beside the prints) you can purchase printing release for the files. This allows you to print the pictures as many times as you wish or share them online. However, all images are copyrighted by Gooseberry Photography, even those you purchase. Every time you share the pictures on line you need to give me credit for taking them. I reserve the right to use any photograph in advertising and reproduction.
